WHD.global is a week-long festival that celebrates the global phenomenon of hosting and cloud technology along with the websites and services that have changed our lives for the better. While WoldHostingDays hosts events all over the world, WHD.global is designed to bring industry leaders together each year in Germany to understand how all these digital technologies fit together to shape our world.
Where does WHD.global take place?
WHD.global 2017 is located at Europa-Park, Germany’s largest theme park. The park sits in the charming German town of Rust just across the Rhine River from France and about 90 km south of the Swiss border. There is easy freeway access and fast train service from the major airports in Basel, Switzerland and both Frankfurt and Cologne, Germany.
How do I get to and from WHD.global?
Frankfurt Airport is the closest international airport. From there, you can continue your journey with Deutsche Bahn to Offenburg train station (approx. 90 minutes), where there’s a free WHD Shuttle taking you directly to WHD.global. During your registration, you will be able to purchase a train ticket from all over Germany to Offenburg at a reduced rate. Please check our website for more info: http://worldhostingdays.com/global/location/#traveldirections
WHD.global is an international event located in Germany, what if I don’t speak the language?
No problem! WHD.global includes people from six continents and more than eighty countries, but the international language of technology is English. So the official language of WHD.global is English and you will find that most of our attendees speak English as a first or second language. You will do fine.
What kind of people will I meet?
WHD.global has grown to be the largest event focused on hosting, cloud, and internet. It draws people from all over the industry — from hardware and data center companies, to hosting service providers, to application developers and content creators. Whether you are a seasoned internet professional or someone who wants to get a start in the business, you will meet people who have a passion for what this amazing technology can do for all of us.
Why does WHD.global last an entire week?
Great question! The short answer is because people want it to. Once you see for yourself all of the incredible sessions, celebrity keynotes, social events, late night talks, entertainments, workshops, and activities you will understand that filling five days is easy!
What happens on Saturday and Sunday — the two days before WHD.global?
The only official event going on beforehand is the WHD.hackathon — coders from all over the world gather to solve technical challenges and create new hosting features in a timed event. Informally, some partners and attendees arrive early to get a jump start on networking and preparing for WHD.global.
Do I have to stay for the entire week?
No. But come for as long as you can — you won’t want to miss a thing.
Why is WHD.global located in an amusement park?
We don’t just talk about technology, we celebrate it! We know that the best way to meet new people and understand each other is by having fun together. And our conference has grown so much over the last thirteen years that the current home of WHD.global — Europa-Park —is one of the few places with the hotel capacity, infrastructure, and quality catering facilities to support out effort.
This is an amusement park, so what about the rides?
We think that there is no better way to break the ice with a new customer or business contact than screaming side-by-side on one of Europa-Park’s incredible thrill rides! That’s why we have arranged for the biggest and fastest rides to be open and free to ride for all attendees of WHD.global 2017. The following attractions will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the lunch period: Silver Star, Matterhorn-Blitz, Schweitzer Bob-Bahn, Euro-Tower, Euro Sat, BlueFire, and Wodan.
Am I allowed to bring my children?
No. All WorldHostingDays events are for hosting and cloud professionals. Children are not allowed to attend.
I would like to attend. How do I get a registration code?
You can purchase a ticket online, but it’s easy to get a free registration code from one of our WHD.global partners. WHD partners can invite people to attend at no cost by using special promotion codes. You can contact any one of the hundreds of partners listed on our site to get one.
If you want help arranging to receive a free promo code or being introduced to one of our partners, just send us an email to: email@example.com
What’s included in a Standard Pass?
Your Standard Pass includes access to the hosting.FAIR, all conference and sessions, as well as premium catering during all event days for lunch, snacks, and coffee breaks. And you will find that there are enough receptions, dinners, parties, and catered social events to fill up most evenings. You probably won’t have to purchase a separate meal unless you want to. Most evenings wine, beer, and cocktails are also served at the many events.
